BACKGROUND HISTORY:

This tenant was an avid collector of Golden Gate memorabilia. Not only did he own actual pieces of the iconic bridge, he also collected rare stamps, books, coins, WW II items, vintage postcards and letters for over 50 years. These multiple and unique / rare collections have been stored on private property for 18 years. Unfortunately due to health reasons, the tenant has been unable to pay for storage; therefore a lien had to be filed in order to clear the debt.

Here’s an example of one of those opportunities. Below is a photo of (3) 25th Anniversary Golden Gate Bridge Medallions. Each are Approximately 6.5 troy oz of .999 of fine silver. In 2001 the tenant bought at auction 2 medallions for $50 each, paying $119.00 (receipt shown). 20 years later 1 medallion is currently listed on Ebay for over $400.00.

Note: There are also 6 other medals that are bronze! Without a doubt most of what was collected has gone up in value, which is why we suggest studying the pictures in the completed photo gallery and do the homework. Pictures will be continuously added as we get closer to auction day. DO NOT HESITATE to Contact us with any questions!

Ever thought about owning a piece of history? How about SEVERAL pieces? Sale Maker Auctions will soon be conducting a public sale of the ICONIC SAN FRANCISCO GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE as well as a beautiful blue 2014 Jeep Laredo. Mileage is 83k and is pending DMV release. Golden Gate Bridge Paint/Rivet History
The Golden Gate Bridge opened on May 28, 1937. The fabricated steel used in the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge was manufactured by Bethlehem Steel in plants in Trenton, New Jersey and Sparrows Point, Maryland and in plants in three Pennsylvania towns: Bethlehem, Pottstown, and Steelton. The steel was loaded, in sections, onto rail cars, taken to Philadelphia and shipped through the Panama Canal to San Francisco
Paint: In 1965 a process began to replace the original lead-based paint with an inorganic zinc silicate primer and acrylic emulsion topcoat. The original lead-based paint was 68% red lead paste in a linseed oil carrier. In the 1980s, this paint was replaced by a water-borne inorganic zinc primer and an acrylic topcoat. The Bridge is constantly being painted to protect from the salty air. You will notice there are paint layers in some rivets.
Rivet Replacement: In the early 1970s, corroded rivets were replaced with ASTM A-325 high-strength bolts dipped in organic zinc rich primer prior to installation. Corroded rivets were replaced when galvanized ASTM A-325 high-strength bolts became available in the mid-1970s.
